Frasier becomes concerned that his father isn't occupying himself enough. He buys him a telescope in the hopes that he'll take up a new hobby. Martin appreciates the gift and soon starts surveying what Seattle has to offer. While using it he discovers a woman in a distant building also using a telescope. They both start communicating with each other and strike up a friendly relationship from afar. Frasier and Daphne are happy for him and try to encourage him to get to know her better. But Martin suddenly seems reluctant to take the relationship any further. Meanhwile Niles is lumbered with looking after his wife's Aunt Patrice and thinks it a good idea to introduce her to Martin.
