Frasier has recently bought a painting believed to be by Martha Paxton. An eccentric but popular artist in Seattle's social upper crust. He hosts a cocktail party with Martha as the honoured guest and his newly purchased painting as the centre piece. He is horrified to learn from Martha that the piece is not genuine. Angered by this he is determined to obtain a refund from the gallery he purchased it from.
