After the battle, Joffrey gives his grandfather the title of Hand of the King and "Savoir of King's Landing." During the ceremony, Ser Loras asks Joffrey to wed his sister and grants him his wish. Sansa is relieved that she will no longer be the queen, but Lord Baelish warns her that she is still not safe. He offers her an escape. Meanwhile, Tyrion awakens and learns that he is no longer the Hand of the King and no longer has any allies except Shae and his squire, Podrick Payne. Shae consoles him and offers a chance to run away with her, but Tyrion chooses to stay because he loves playing the game. Outside Harranhal, Arya meets Jagen once more. He offers her a chance to teach her how to kill like him. She is tempted, but declines his offer so she can find her family. He gives her a coin and tells her to give it to a stranger in a place called Braavos if she needs him.

Stannis returns to the safety of his land after escaping the battle. He blames Melisandre for pressuring him to declare war. He attempts to choke her to death, but she calms him down. Across the narrow sea, Daenerys enters the house of the Undying. There, she finds herself in the vision of a ruined Great Hall in King's Landing. She steps out of the vision and finds herself in a tent where she is reunited with Drogo, who is unsure of whether they are seeing is real or not. Daenerys hears her dragons and she finds them chained to a pedestal. Pyat Pree and binds Daenerys with chains made of magic. He tells her he plans to keep her their because she and the dragons enhance his powers.

Daenerys orders her dragons to kill the warlock with their firebreath. Pyat's death cancels the magic, and Daenerys is freed. She gathers her followers and finds Xaro in bed with Doreah, who had betrayed her. She takes Xaro's key and opens his vault to find nothing inside. Then she takes Xaro and Doreah and locks them both inside. She uses all of Xaro's property to buy a boat to Westros. In Robb Stark's camp, he weds Talisa despite his mother's warnings. In Winterfell, Theon is surrounded by Robb's men. He tries to rally his men, but they betray him instead and stab Ludwin. Later, Brann finds Ludwin dying by the Godswood. He tells them to head to the wall. Over the wall, Qhorin pushes Jon into a fight. When Jon kills him, the wildlings free Jon's hands and show him wildling's main force. Meanwhile, Sam gets isolated from his companions and finds a horde of white walkers.
