The group encounters many obstacles in their quest to find stability and safety, but sometimes all they have to guide them is hope.

Plot Summary[]

Beth and Daryl head into the woods to escape from the prison. After evading a group of walkers, they decide to find the others. However, they only find walkers feasting on the dead at the railroad tracks. Earlier, Tyreese, Lizzie and Mika try to keep a crying Judith quiet. When Tyreese hears a cry for help, he instructs the girls to stay where they are while he goes to help. Waiting for Tyreese, Judith continues to cry. Lizzie tries to keep Judith from crying by smothering her. Judith's crying attracts walkers and Mika shoots one of them. Carol appears after trailing them for some time. She helps kill the walkers and leads them to Tyreese, who had failed to save the people crying for help. One of the men, before dying, tells Tyreese that there is a sanctuary up ahead if they follow the railroad tracks.

Maggie, Bob, and Sasha are together after the prison attack. Despite Bob and Sasha's protests, Maggie attempts to find Glenn. After walking through the woods, they find the prison bus where Glenn was last seen. Unfortunately, the passengers on the bus have died. With Sasha and Bob's help, they open the bus to see if Glenn is one of the dead passengers. They kill all the walkers, but they don't see Glenn. Maggie cries at the thought of losing her father, Beth and Glenn. At the prison, Glenn wakes up after leaving the bus. He goes into the prison to get his armor and some supplies. When he sees a picture of Maggie, he cries. Then he heads outside. There, he finds Tara safely trapped inside a prison fence. Though she does not want to leave. Glenn persuades her to help him escape. Once they are away from the prison, Tara tells Glenn that the Governor had killed Hershel and that her sister was swarmed by walkers after killing the Governor. A group of walkers suddenly attack them. After killing them, an armored car appears. Three mysterious strangers step out of the car asking what they have on them.

"[To her Journal] Hey, I know it's been awhile, but I'm going to be honest. I forgot about you. After the farm, we were always moving. But something happened, something good...finally. We found a prison. Daddy thinks that we can make it into a home. He says we can grow crops in the field, find pigs and chickens, stop running, stop scavenging. Lori's baby is just about due. She'll need a safe place when it comes. The rest of us...we just need a safe place to be. I woke in my own bed yesterday. My own bed...in my own room. I've been keeping my backpack. Keeping my gun close. I've been afraid to get my hopes up. I mean, can we actually stay here? The thing is I've been starting to get afraid that it is easier to just afraid. but this morning, daddy said something: "If you don't have hope, what's the point of living?" So, I unpacked my bag and I found you. So, I'm going to start writing in you again. And I'm going to write this down now because we should write our wishes to make them come true. We can live here...we can live here for the rest of our lives."

"Now Hershel, Maggie's father, was a great man. And he told all I had to do was believe and that's what I'm going to do."
―Glenn Rhee[src]
