University student Peter Parker inadvertently is bitten by a radioactive spider and becomes the web-spinning, wall crawling Amazing Spider-Man!
Known as the second live-action television series starring Spider-Man, this series was seen as a major disappointment by fans as CBS deliberately tried to play down on the comic book elements and have more adult villains. Despite high ratings, the series was ultimately cancelled through a combination of the enormous expenses due to special effects and the television company's desire to alter its image due to the proliferation of live action superhero TV series such as The Incredible Hulk; Wonder Woman; Shazam!; and The Secrets of Isis that it already played on its network.
In reruns and video releases, a number of episodes were spliced together with a new intercut scene to combine them together and repackaged as TV movies such as Spider-Man; Spider-Man Strikes Back; and Spider-Man: The Dragon's Challenge respectively.
