|Aliases||The Key, Little Bit|
|TV Show||Buffy The Vampire Slayer|
Originally the living embodiment of the Key, a mystical pool of energy that acts as a gateway to all dimensions that was being hunted by the Hell Goddess Glorificus. Unable to protect it, the protectors of the Key invoked a ritual that transformed it into a living teenage girl and mystically implanted into the life of the only one that they believed could protect her, the Vampire Slayer. Thus, Dawn Summers came into being as Buffy's bratty younger sister and a member of the Scooby Gang even though they were originally unaware of her true origins.
Dawn Summers first appeared on September 26, 2000 on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode "Buffy vs. Dracula". She was portrayed by Michelle Trachtenberg who would go on to reprise her role throughout the rest of the TV series as part of the regular cast.
Personality and Traits
She can be needlessly confrontational and bratty at times. She loves Buffy and her friends but can get frustrated when she can't do what she wants or isn't trusted to look after herself.
- Although Dawn Summers made her first appearance in the fifth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, there were hints of her forthcoming arrival well in advance in prior episodes including the third season finale, "Graduation Day, Part Two" and in the fourth season episodes, "This Year's Girl" and "Restless".
- I could so save the world if somebody handed me superpowers! But I'd think of a cool name and wear a mask to protect my loved ones. Which Buffy doesn't even!
