Based on "The Locator" novels written by Richard Greener, The Finder was created as a spin-off series of the long running and popular TV series Bones with the sixth season episode, "The Finder" acting as a back door pilot for the series and acted as a mid-season replacement for Bones which was on temporary hiatus due to series star Emily Deschanel's real life pregnancy impacted her ability to fulfill a full TV season.
The Finder was cancelled after its initial order of 13 episodes were completed and aired. It is also known for being the last project that Michael Clarke Duncan was involved in before his death from a heart attack on September 3, 2012 shortly after the series wrapped up.
