Overview

Lori is Rick's wife and the mother of Carl and Judith.

Background

At a young age, Lori had meet a man named Rick Grimes. They dated him for a short period before marrying him. Then the two had a child named Carl and the family lived a typical suburban life. Prior to the outbreak, Lori and Rick were having trouble with their marriage due to poor communication. When the outbreak had occurred, Lori and Carl were shepherded out of their home by a family friend named Shane Walsh. After leaving the city, Lori and Shane formed a group with some other people. Believing that her husband was dead, Lori began a romantic relationship with Shane. Before the series had began, the group that Lori and Carl were following had camped just outside Atlanta, Georgia.

Major Plots

Season 1

When the group going on a run returns, Lori and Carl are surprised to find that Rick is with them. Relieved that she is reunited with her husband, Lori picks up with their marriage left off. However, Shane is unhappy that Lori had chosen Rick over him. Ultimately, Lori reaffrims her love for Rick over Shane.One night, the group is attacked by a crowd of walkers. After the group kills the walkers, they make for the CDC on Rick's suggestion. At the CDC, they meet a man named Edwin Jenner, who gives them temporary relief from the harsh world. However, their sanctuary does not last. Jenner informs the group that when the CDC's power runs out, it will explode. Not wanting to die, the group escapes the CDC and continue their trek.

Season 2

The group comes upon a deserted highway filled with cars, When a herd of walkers passes by, the group loses Sophia when two walkers chase after her. Rick follows her, but loses her in the end. The group organizes a search for Sophia. During the search, Lori is told that her son was accidentally shot by a hunter. She is then brought to a farm where she sits by her son's side while Hershel, the farm owner, treats Carl's wounds. The rest of the group follows her to the farm. It is there that they make the farm their home. During their stay, Lori finds out that she is pregnant. After learning of her pregnancy, Hershel allows the group to stay at his farm. Their peace is once again disrupted when Glenn finds that Hershel is keeping walkers in the barn.

Season 3

Rick finds a prison where the group can live at. When the group goes through clearing away the walkers inside the prison, they find a group of surviving inmates. Deciding to give the inmates their own separate space, Rick and his group clear another cell block for them. However, one of the inmates tries to kill Rick. Rick does not take this kindly. He kills the inmate and chases an inmate named Andrew away. Andrew returns to the prison to get his revenge on the group by releasing walkers into the prison. During the confusion, Lori is forced to have a C-section or lose the baby. She gives birth to a healthy baby girl who is later named Judith. Afterward, Lori dies due to the C-section. Carl, who is present at her death, cries and then shoots her so that she does not return as a walker.

Personality and Traits

As a mother, Lori is very protective of her children. She would do anything for them, even going to the point of dying for them. As a person, Lori is a demanding person. She has high expectations and often sets lofty goals for her and her family to reach.

Trivia

Differences From the Source Material

  • In the comics, Lori dies from being hit by a bullet during the Governor's attack on the prison. Before that event, she is able to give birth to Judith without dying.
