  • I don't know if you ran into this problem in your Wikia. I should have created a rules thread on categories you can make andd cannot make. I just couldn't find a way to word it.

In my experience, people kept making red haired characters, pink eyed characters as categories. I found out useless as we have that in the infobox.

    • SnowyMountain and I have cleaned up a lot of useless, and spam categories. I think the only thing you can really do is message the people adding them. If they continue, block their account for a few months. I had to give an account a 6 month ban recently due to this problem.

    • Thank you. I have to make a category thread, just to list what we have. That's what you should only add. Anything new must be suggested first.

  • One of the things I've been tinkering on and off with is our Infoboxes.  I'm still fiddling around with one for Races; I still don't like some of the data is arranged but I have come up with one for the Teams that I've been trying out and I'd like your opinion.

I got a bunch of 'em for Avengers, CIA, the Green Lantern Corps, and LexCorp if you want to take a look at a bunch of different organization types from superheroes, gov agencies, law enforcement teams, and corporations.  I thnk it seems to work for all of 'em.  Right now, I can't think of anything else to add or adjust to them so I wanted to find out what you thought.

    Let me know.

    • I was just curious what qualified as a concept.

    • I suppose "Dystopian Future" and the others do count as a Concept and as a Genre.  As far as I'm concerned; whatever doesn't really fall into the other Categories of Object, Weapon, and Vehicles and other stuff can probably fall into the Concepts Page.

  • Haha!  I've done it!

In case you haven't noticed, I've been trying to expand the list of Teams in the Wikia and have finally cracked the 200 mark benchmark that I set for myself.

I'll still be adding to the list, but slower; I'll probably work a bit on filling out some of the pages now.

    • Hmmm ... that is a problem.  The thing is that a lot of universes use the term "mutant".  Even DC uses the term "mutant" for some of metahumans; it means that they were 'born' with their powers rather than having an external trigger source/event.  The original ThunderCats TV show, their main enemies were called "Mutants" too.

I think it's simply too big or bothersome to create a separate individual Mutant entry for each.  Rather, I think what might be best is that we have Mutant as a huge catch-all list and write a description on the page for each universe describing what makes them "unique" or "different" from the other universes.

  • I've been doing some tinkering around with the Wikia lately, trying to add stuff.  One of the things I've been wondering if there isn't a way to add a photo slideshow for the infoboxes; it's not necessary for most of 'em but I was looking at some characters like James Bond who has had like 7 or so actors playing him that I was thinking if we couldn't have all of the pics of each actor in the role and be able to slide back and forth.  So far though, I haven't been able to make it work.  But I'm working on it, off and on when I get a chance.

I also have been trying to add though is more cross-links on some of the pages.  Again, for most pages I think just a few links aren't a biggie but I have noticed that some of the major franchises with their big universes; they have multiple pages of related stuff.  I tried experimenting with just having a list of links but then I tried a special Infobox but that doesn't seem to work that good.  I just tried creating a table with links though, that seems to be the best looking visually to me at least.  Take a look at the link below:

    Star Wars Franchise Page

I kept the list of links above it so you could compare how they look but I think the table links look better but I have to admit that I still think it could be improved slightly.  What about making the rows different colors?  Or at least the title box?  Do you know how?  I've been looking at the Help Sections but haven't been able to find that.  Or do you have any other suggestions on tweaking it?  Let me know.

    • I like the table link look you came up with for the Star Wars Franchise, it looks better. As far as I know, you can't do slideshows in infoboxes, but you can add a picture gallery page to show a character's different looks.

Link colors are set in the Adimin Dashboard, but you're kind of stuck with 1 uniform color. I'm guessing it's so you can easily tell the difference between a regular link and a broken link. If you're looking to tweak it, you could experiment with pictures as links.

  • Have you used them before?

    Example: http://animevice.wikia.com/wiki/Chie_Satonaka

That help you with the dupe wiki pages especially with episodes pages.

    Edit:

    If you like.

  • I don't feel good or bad about it, just indifferent.

The only good thing was when you logged out and go on the front page, the annoying ad doesn't pop up. I do have adblocker but Wikia seems to bypass my adblocker so it was annoying to see a video consuming bandwidth of an ad when you log off.
