A highly acclaimed UK Drama Series, Queer as Folk was originally intended for a single season with eight episodes but its immense popularity convinced studio executives to commission an additional two episodes to finish the series. The success and popularity of this foreign series resulted in an American adaptation Queer as Folk (2000) based on this series which lasted several years longer than the original.
