In an idyllic French mountain town, a seemly random group of people return from the dead. Confused and shaken by their state, they try to reintegrate themselves back into society in their former roles.

The Returned or Les Revenants is a French drama based on the 2004 French movie Les Revenants (They Came Back). The series explores the lives of a road accident victim named Camille, a suicidal groom named Simon, and the mysterious boy named Victor as well the other surrounding them as they try to readjust to society after being dead.

Major Plots

Season 1

In 2008, a bus crashes and kills 15 students after a mysterious boy appears in the road. Years later, Camille, one of the bus passengers, returns home after being brought back to life.At the same time, a man named Simon returns to find his bride to be Adele. Another serial killer named Serge comes back from the dead after his brother kills him. A child named Victor is found by a woman named Julie and is taken in by her. Camille has difficulty adjusting to back to her life because of all the changes that have happened since she died. Her parents have become divorced and her sister has grown into a rebellious teenager. Camille has an especially conflicted relationship with her sister Lena, who rejects her existence. Camille starts dating her crush Frederic in order to spite Lena and to have a normal life. By the end of the season, the two reconcile their differences and accept one another.

Simon briefly rekindles his relationship with Adele. They begin to fall apart when Adele learns that Simon had committed suicide on their wedding day. One night, Simon visits Adele so they and their child Chloe could runaway. However, Chloe and Adele reject him because of his suicide. The town suffers from a blackout and the town is forced to go the community center called the Helping Hand. The police spot a horde of the undead moving toward the community center. Lucy, a maid recently killed by Serge, leads the horde of the dead. Having taken Chloe hostage, they ask Thomas to give up the revenants in the community center. Thomas complies and the police separate the revenants from their families. Not wanting to leave Camille and Victor, Camille's mother, Claire, and Julie volunteer to follow their loved ones to the horde.

Lucy demands that they give up Adele because Adele has Simon's unborn child inside her. Thomas refuses to give up Adele. He gathers everyone inside and lets his policemen shoot the horde. When the town emerges, they find that their town has been flooded. Production
