The lighthearted comedic high school life of the students and teachers of Bayside High who are forced to cope with the schemes and wacky antics of the irreverent and conniving Zack Morris and his close knit circle of friends who often get roped into his hair brained plots which often backfire on him.
This popular American teen sitcom television series was originally a spin-off of Good Morning, Miss Bliss which focused on the adult teachers of high school instead. Although it was quickly cancelled, CBS executives were convinced in the natural chemistry of the students and the concept and series was reworked into Saved by the Bell.
Class is in session and it is the start of a new year at Bayside High. Freshman Zack Morris is determined to become the undisputed King of Bayside as well as win the heart of his long-time crush, the beautiful Kelly Kapowski. His plans are instantly derailed by the arrival of new transfer student and star athlete, A.C. Slater, forming a tense love triangle between him, Slater, and Kelly.
But that's never stopped the ever conniving Zack. As the rest of the year continues, he'll hatch up scheme after scheme to get rich, to win popularity, to make Slater look bad, or simply to try and get the lovely Kelly to go on a date with him while trying to evade the disciplinarian Principal Richard Belding.
The ever scheming Zack Morris is up to his old tricks and some new ones at Bayside High. Even though his relationship with the beautiful Kelly Kapowski has its ups and downs, his rivalry with A.C. Slater has become a halfway decent friendship as Slater is now romancing Jesse Spano. But he's still out to make a fast buck or outwit the ever dull Principal Belding; the gang finds themselves forced to turn to the scam artist supreme to use his talents for good in helping his friends and Bayside itself ... on occasion.
Zack and Kelly have a bitter break up and the rest of the gang find themselves struggling to remain friends with both of them without choosing sides. Meanwhile, Jesse Spano is having several crises when she learns that her divorced parents are remarrying to other people! Not only that but her new stepfather has a son, Eric who seems bound and determined to maliciously screw things up with her and her friends. And she's convinced that her father is suffering from a mid-life crisis and is busy trying to sabotage his impending wedding to an aerobics instructor. Then the gang takes summer jobs as the Malibu Sands Resort under the dictatorship of Mr. Carosi and Zack finds himself attracted to the boss' daughter, Stacey and trying to win her affections while trying to please the unpleasant Carosi.
It is their Senior Year at Bayside and their graduation and college days may be fast approaching, but Zack is still furiously pulling his scams and schemes. Whether it's trying to help Slater convince his father, an Army Major that he would prefer to go to college rather than apply to the military; to outwitting a greedy con artist who has sold the Senior Class with cheap imitation rings; trying to break Kelly up with her new boyfriend; or wooing the affections of the new transfer student Tori Scott; he's the one and only irrepressible Zack Morris.
