A 1993 historical drama directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg. The film is based on the true life of Nazi businessman Oskar Schindler who conspired to save the lives of his Jewish factory workers from certain death during the Holocaust.
Oskar Schindler was a German businessman with a golden tongue and an eye for opportunistic profiteering. When the Nazi Party rose to power during World War II, he was one of the first to jump onto the bandwagon and slyly suggested to high officials the economics of exploiting the captured Jews as a cheap labor force. Naturally, he had just the factories to utilize them. At least at first.
But as time and the war drags on, Schindler becomes increasingly pained by his own conscience as he comes to understand the fate of the Jews and the "Final Solution" awaiting them. And in the end, he sought to save them. Once, one of the wealthiest industrialists of Germany, Schindler reduced himself to being a penniless vagabond; as he desperately bribed soldiers and officials for his 'workforce', saving over 1,200 Jews from the gas chambers of Auschwitz.
